zoë e. miles (they/them) is an American artist from Los Angeles currently based in the Bay Area.

In their photography, zoë explores the interplay between light and shadow. zoë creates a dreamy and surreal atmosphere in their work, communicating the feeling of separation of mind and body that is experienced with dissociation. Their work focuses on the relationship between the intimacy of home and the comfort of familiar spaces, as well as the sustainable, healing, and ephemeral uses of nature. zoë is inspired by theorists and writers who study the intersection of the exploitation of the environment and Black bodies, and aim to find ancestral healing through nature and growing life on Earth.

zoë is a plant-based photographer, exploring the relationship between nature, art, and humans. Their process is intentional and environmental. zoë works with film as a way to ground themself into reality, uses an eco-based process by developing their film with plants to further tether themself to the natural world, and works with cyanotypes and anthotypes to create prints that are unique and environmentally conscious. zoë’s use of handmade paper brings the consideration of texture, tactility, and process.
